Prediction with Jyotish Tarot

How can a Tarot reading speak about a particular person or event? In Jyotish Tarot, some cards serve as significators. They indicate who or what the reading is about.

Shukra may indicate a wife. Brhaspati may indicate money. Jaya may indicate a business partner or partnership. Kutumba may bring family or shared resources into the reading, while Karma may indicate work or career. These meanings give us a subject to follow through the spread.

The Navatara number system shows how that subject moves. Each of the seven placements contributes a different part of the story:

  1. Janma — where the matter begins
  2. Sampat — what can grow or be gained
  3. Vipat — a challenge that arises
  4. Kshema — what needs care or protection
  5. Pratyari — resistance that must be addressed
  6. Sadhaka — the effort that makes progress possible
  7. Naidhana — where the sequence leads or what reaches completion

Imagine Jaya, a card that can indicate a partnership, appearing in a reading about a new business venture. Its presence tells us that the partnership matters. Its placement tells us how it matters. In Janma, the partnership may be the starting point. In Vipat, a difficulty between partners may need attention. In Sadhaka, working together may be what moves the venture forward.

We then look at the other cards. A card indicating money may show what the partners hope to build. A card indicating work may show what they must actually do. Together, the cards can reveal a sequence: an agreement begins, a challenge appears, and a particular action helps the partners move through it.

This is where prediction becomes more specific. We look at the people and subjects indicated by the cards, the order in which they appear, and the movement from one placement to the next. The spread can show what is developing and where a choice or action may shape the outcome.

In upcoming posts, I’ll share examples of predictive spreads using this system so you can see how the cards and Navatara placements work together in an actual reading.
